PUBLICATIONS OFFICER
Irish Girl Guides (IGG) are recruiting a part time Publications
Officer. This role is a 2-year fixed term position.
The Irish Girl Guides? mission is to enable girls and young women to
develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the
world. This is achieved by the volunteer leaders running a non-formal
educational programme with **Apply on the website** plus units across
all counties in the Republic of Ireland. The organisation has
charitable status and works to ensure it is compliant with all
relevant legislation and codes of good practice. The organisation is
led by a board of volunteers. The Communications Officer will work
closely with the CEO, all staff, and volunteers.
KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The role will have as its primary focus the development of internal
IGG Publications through building and maintaining links with the
volunteer committees to support content as well as identify
opportunities to enhance our mailout lists internally and externally
to increase growth in the IGG brand.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
To provide high quality publications for the organisation.
TREFOIL NEWS
Trefoil News (5 editions per year)
* Set annual production calendar and agree themes
* Develop and nurture relationships with key volunteers, in
particular Chairs of national committees.
* Request and collate content from contributors
* Edit content and liaise with contributors re content queries
* Layout and design publication
* Prepare and send draft publication for proofing and carry out
suggested edits
* Liaise with printer and mailing service and ensure mailing list
and final print-ready file are provided
NEWSLETTER
* To produce a bi monthly newsletter for IGG leaders
* To increase the number of leaders receiving the newsletter
OTHER DESIGN WORK
* IGG annual overview and Infographics (once a year)
* Annual membership pin (once a year)
* Update Leader resources as required, print and digital
* Provide editing, design and proof-reading support to colleagues
VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
* Working closely with the national committees and regional
committees to gather content and promote the availability of IGG
publications.
* Working closely with the Communications Officer, Programme
Officer, and Operations Coordinator.
* Attending volunteer meeting as required
* Supporting training as required for volunteers in relation to the
development of content
OTHER DUTIES
* To carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO and/or
Management Committee from time to time
* To attend training sessions and staff days as required
* To participate actively in Support and Supervision sessions as
well as the annual appraisal and planning process
REPORTING
The role will report to the CEO or as specified
* Other tasks may from time to time be required from the role as
directed by the CEO, committee Chair
CONDITIONS
This position will initially be for two years, with a six-month
probationary period. The current salary range starts at ?**Apply on
the website**,**Apply on the website** pro rata. Contract is for 3
days per week. This agreement can be discussed with the successful
candidate. Annual leave is **Apply on the website** days pro rata plus
an additional 4 days? office closure - Easter, Christmas. This job
is based in IGG National Office and may involve travel outside of
Dublin. Currently the National Office is in Donnybrook, Dublin 4 but
will move to Tallaght, Dublin **Apply on the website** in January

arrangement as and when suitable for both IGG business requirements
and the employee.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
* Experience in editing, publications, communications
* Ability to design and produce written material
* An understanding of the charity sector, relevant regulations, and
of working with volunteers
* A track record in developing and maintaining positive
relationships with stakeholders
* A relevant third level or professional qualification
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* up to date with latest PR trends and marketing best practices
* experience in copywriting and editing
* knowledge of MS Office and a can-do attitude towards learning new
IT packages experience in web design and content production is a plus
photo- and video-editing software is an asset
* strong organisational skills and time management skills
* excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively
internally and externally
* proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
* ability to work independently and use own initiative, as well as
integrating with a team and adding value
